Chelsea have confirmed that Eden Hazard has signed a new contract with the French club Lille until 2026.

The 28-year-old Belgian international midfielder, who has played over 1,000 times for Chelsea since joining in 2014, will receive a €35 million fee from the London-based club.

Hazard has been a key player for Chelsea under manager Antonio Conte and has made significant contributions to their success, winning multiple league titles and European Cup crowns during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Lille had previously expressed interest in signing Hazard, but the transfer was initially put on hold due to financial considerations. However, after negotiations, they were able to secure the deal.

"This is a great move for both clubs," said Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. "Eden is one of the best midfielders in the world and we're delighted to be bringing him back to Stamford Bridge."

"His experience and leadership will be invaluable as we look to continue our pursuit of silverware this season," added Conte.

Hazard's move to Lille comes as Chelsea face a challenging period in the Premier League, having suffered relegation last season. The club are currently in 17th place, two points behind Liverpool and seven points behind Manchester City.

However, Conte remains confident that the team can bounce back and compete for a top-four finish this season. "We've got some talented young players coming through, and I'm optimistic about the future of the club," he said.

Overall, Hazard's return to Lille represents a positive development for both clubs and could help them navigate a difficult period in their footballing careers.
